Dubai International Airport Resumes Limited Flights After Drone Incident Causes Fuel Tank Fire

Dubai, UAE Flights at Dubai International Airport (DXB) have resumed on a limited schedule after a drone-related incident caused a fire near one of the airport’s fuel tanks early Monday morning, according to UAE authorities.
The fire was quickly contained by Dubai Civil Defence teams, and officials confirmed that the situation is now under control with no injuries reported at the airport.
Drone Impact Causes Fire Near Dubai Airport
Authorities stated that the fire was caused by the impact of a drone near a fuel tank in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport. Emergency response teams immediately responded to the scene and successfully contained the blaze.
The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the incident was handled swiftly and that all necessary safety measures were taken to ensure the safety of passengers, airport staff, and the surrounding areas.
Temporary Suspension of Flights at DXB
Following the incident, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority temporarily suspended flights at DXB at around 6:30 AM as a precautionary measure.
Travelers were advised to contact their respective airlines for updates, while authorities worked to secure the area and assess the situation.
Some flights were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport, while others were delayed or cancelled due to the temporary suspension.
Gradual Resumption of Flights
Authorities later confirmed that flights would gradually resume from 10 AM on a limited schedule.
“Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announces the gradual resumption of some flights to and from Dubai International Airport to selected destinations following the temporary suspension implemented as a precautionary measure,” the Dubai Media Office stated.
Emirates airline also confirmed on its website that some services would resume under a limited schedule.
Missile Warning Issued in Abu Dhabi
Meanwhile, a safety alert was issued in Abu Dhabi on Monday morning after residents received a missile warning notification on their mobile phones at approximately 8:50 AM, urging them to take shelter.
Authorities later announced that the situation had stabilized.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office reported that a missile struck a civilian vehicle in the Al Bahyah area, resulting in the death of a Palestinian national.
Officials urged the public to rely only on official government sources for information and avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
UAE Air Defences Respond to Missile and Drone Threats
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that the country’s air defence systems were responding to incoming missile and drone threats originating from Iran.
Officials also noted that the UAE has intercepted hundreds of missiles and drones since recent regional tensions escalated following military strikes against Iran earlier this month.
Regional Security Concerns Continue
The latest incident follows previous security events in the UAE, including a strike near Dubai Airport last week that injured four people. The injured included two Ghanaian nationals and a Bangladeshi who sustained minor injuries, while an Indian national was moderately injured.
In Abu Dhabi, authorities previously confirmed that a fire at the emirate’s old airport was caused by debris from intercepted missiles.
International Response
The United Nations Security Council recently adopted a Bahrain-sponsored resolution condemning attacks by Iran on Gulf nations.
Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, said the attacks highlight Iran’s “military failure, political isolation, and lack of morality.”
Authorities continue to monitor the situation while maintaining safety measures across airports and critical infrastructure.
